The strength of any professional organization lies in the dedication of its members and volunteers. AAOS is proud to be supported by members who generously contribute their time and expertise through service on councils and committees.
Volunteering with AAOS provides a meaningful opportunity to help shape the organization’s future, expand professional networks, and develop leadership skills that extend beyond AAOS involvement. Service is also a vital way for members to give back to the profession — strengthening orthopaedics, advancing shared priorities, and helping ensure the specialty continues to grow and improve for future generations.
“When we volunteer, we don’t just give our time — we build relationships, share knowledge, and strengthen the foundation of our Academy,” said Wilford K. Gibson, MD, FAAOS, AAOS first vice president and CAP Committee chair.
AAOS strives to engage as many members as possible in its governance structure, and with more than 70 councils and committees, there are numerous opportunities to get involved. Members are encouraged to explore service on committees within the Advocacy Council, Education Council, Membership Council, or Research and Quality Council.
Members interested in supporting the mission and vision of AAOS are invited to visit the Committee Appointment Program (CAP) website (cap.aaos.org) to review and apply for available volunteer positions by Aug. 1. A member username and password are required to access the system. Please note that the CAP platform displays only those positions for which a member’s category is eligible.
