AAOS proudly reflects on a year defined by progress, purpose, and momentum for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons. In 2025, AAOS continued its focus on world-class education, cutting edge innovation, and providing quality resources to elevate clinical skills.
Guided by our Annual Report’s theme, Blueprint for Impact: Building the Future of Orthopaedics, AAOS advanced the orthopaedic profession while strengthening the foundation to lead it into the future.
2025 Highlights and Accomplishments
- AAOS launched various educational products that meet diverse member needs, including the SkillSet Series, The Guidelines Navigator and the Generalist Series
- The 2025 Annual Meeting, held in San Diego, brought together orthopaedic professionals from around the world for a week of education, networking and innovation.
- Nearly 1,500 letters were written to lawmakers about musculoskeletal policy and federal healthcare regulations during the fifth annual Orthopaedic Advocacy Week.
- A vote was passed to modernize the AAOS governance structure by streamlining bylaws, investing in leadership training and reinforcing transparency, engagement, and responsiveness.
- AAOS premiered the new Orthobiologics Registry, a disease -and condition- focused registry aimed at advancing evidence-based research on orthobiologic therapies.
- The Orthopaedic Research Excellence Awards were introduced to recognize groundbreaking contributions in musculoskeletal science
- AAOS publications like JAAOS and AAOS Now have transitioned to digital formats, reflecting efforts to modernize content delivery and provide a seamless member experience.
- OrthoInfo, the patient resource website of AAOS, began work on the launch of the new OrthoInfo Podcast. Hosted by members of the OrthoInfo Editorial Board, the podcast will provide in-depth answers to commonly asked bone and joint questions.
- The annual Member Value and Satisfaction Survey (MVAS) was deployed to understand member needs, drive new content and enhance existing resources and tools.
- AAOS was honored with several workplace awards, including The Chicago Tribune’s Top Workplaces 2025 and The Best and Brightest Companies to Work For, both locally and nationally, for the sixth and fifth consecutive years, respectively. New in 2025, AAOS was also named one of the Top 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work for in the Nation. These awards are based on employee feedback and key workplace culture measures.
