The AAOS Nominating Committee requests your help in identifying future leaders of the AAOS and nominees to the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS) Board of Directors.
The AAOS Board of Directors provided guidance to the AAOS Nominating Committee that will serve as a framework for selecting future leaders. This framework reflects the AAOS’ evolving strategic priorities and emphasizes the skills, experience, and leadership mindset needed to guide AAOS into the future.
2027 Open Seats – AAOS Board of Directors
- Second Vice President
- Treasurer-Elect
- Member-at-Large — Age 45 and over
- Member-at-Large — Under age 45
Nominations also accepted for nominees to the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Criteria for All AAOS Board Positions - 2027
MANDATORY CRITERIA
- Active Fellow in clinical practice
- No unmanageable conflicts of interest
- No history of conduct that could negatively impact the AAOS reputation
- Committed to the Strategic Plan, Mission, Vision, and Core Values
- Serves as an exclusive fiduciary of the AAOS
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED CRITERIA
- Champion of cultural change; strategic and visionary
- Emotional intelligence for collaborative discussion
- Fluency in AAOS business and governance
- Breadth across specialty, setting, and geography
- Independent thinker who challenges the status quo
