How has the AAOS helped you throughout your career?
AAOS has helped me primarily with access to resources for my education. I have attended Annual Meetings, courses, and used online learning materials. These have also helped with my ABOS Maintenance of Certification.
What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?
I can think of several bits of advice I have gotten along the way that have been very useful. One is, "Take care of the patient," from Dr. Reitman. I also remember learning, "Don't be the first or the last," but I don't remember specifically who I heard that from. Additionally, I have adopted the concept of the "eyeball test" when it comes to offering patients surgery that may not be a straightforward situation.
What’s your go-to productivity trick?
Probably catching a nap when I can.
What’s one thing you’re currently trying to make a habit?
Staying off my phone, learning the right way to teach/mentor residents and medical students, and making time for regular quiet time.
What hobbies do you enjoy in your spare time?
Yardwork, real estate, and fitness.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself that not many people know?
I am scared of squirrels.
