How has the AAOS helped you throughout your career?
The AAOS has been a valuable resource throughout my career by providing access to high-quality educational content, clinical resources, and opportunities to stay current with advancements in orthopaedic care. As a Physician Assistant working in orthopaedics, I appreciate having access to trusted, evidence-based information that helps me continue learning and improve the care I provide to patients.
As an Allied member, which AAOS resources do you use most and why?
The Orthopedic Video Theater and on-demand webinars are probably the AAOS resources I use most. I'm a visual learner, and I find it incredibly helpful to watch procedures, techniques, and presentations from experts in the field. The ability to learn at my own pace and on my own schedule has made these resources especially valuable throughout my career in orthopaedics.
What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?
One of the best pieces of advice I've received is to never stop learning. Throughout my career, I've been fortunate to work alongside talented physicians, advanced practice providers, and mentors who reinforced the importance of staying curious and continually striving to improve. Healthcare is constantly changing, and maintaining a growth mindset has helped me both professionally and personally.
What’s your go-to productivity trick?
My go-to productivity trick is focusing on solving one problem at a time while remaining adaptable. I find that breaking larger challenges into smaller, manageable tasks helps maintain momentum and keeps me focused on what is most important. I also try to learn something new every day that can be applied to improve patient care or workflow efficiency.
What’s one thing you’re currently trying to make a habit?
I'm continuously trying to be more intentional with my time and attention, especially outside of work. With three young children, I want to be fully present during the moments that matter most. Professionally, I'm always working to create dedicated time for learning and personal growth.
What hobbies do you enjoy in your spare time?
Most of my free time is devoted to my family. My wife, Paige, and I have three children, and much of our schedule revolves around attending and coaching youth sports. When I'm not at a sporting event, I enjoy working on our property in Winona, Minnesota, where we have several acres overlooking the Mississippi River. We also have a variety of animals, including dogs, cats, chickens, and even a leopard gecko, which helps keep life interesting.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself that not many people know.
During a study abroad experience, I lived in Germany and later in Vienna, Austria. While in Vienna, I was fortunate to have a soccer coaching internship with SK Rapid Wien, helping train players in their youth development program. It was a unique opportunity to combine my passion for sports with international travel and remains one of the most memorable experiences of my life.
