How has the AAOS helped you throughout your career?
The AAOS has helped me connect with other orthopaedic surgeons outside of my subspecialty. This is particularly helpful when treating orthopaedic trauma patients as many of these patients have injuries best treated with techniques utilized by other subspecialties.
As a Candidate Member, which AAOS resources do you use most and why?
I use the access to journals the most to stay up to date on the most cutting-edge research within the field.
What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?
“Everything that happens in your practice is your responsibility.” – One of my residency attendings, Mike Stover, discussing accountability and never spreading blame.
What’s your go-to productivity trick?
Discussing with everyone in the OR what is needed and the plan for each case as well as providing accurate time estimates when asked.
What’s one thing you’re currently trying to make a habit?
Timely and efficient completion of paperwork.
What hobbies do you enjoy in your spare time?
Hanging out with my family and spending time outdoors.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself that not many people know?
I installed granite countertops for years in high school and college and that’s one of the reasons I am as comfortable with power tools as I am.
